Another method that search engines may use when indexing a new page is storing a cached version of it. This is a highly-compressed text only version which includes the HTML and meta data, and is effectively the latest snapshot that the search engine knows about stored as a backup. This is also the version that has been indexed and will be used to judge its relevance for a user’s search query until the next time the page is cached. The user doesn’t have to worry about indexing because all of this hard work goes on behind the scenes as a result of Google’s in-depth and highly optimised algorithms.
