5 myths about SEO
Getting to page one can happen in a day
Any SEO company that tells you that for only £100 they’ll have you on the front page of Google within 24 hours is just trying to take your money. Any company worth their salt will explain to you that organic SEO takes time and is an investment. We always advise our clients before they come on board that they need to stick with it for at least 3 months, or they’ll just be wasting their time and money.
SEO is some dark art that only a select few are privy to
Like anything you’re unfamiliar with, whether it’s car mechanics, astronomy or the Kardashians, SEO can seem a bit daunting and mysterious. But anyone can learn the basics – there’s no secret sect who controls all of the SEO knowledge. We’re actually very educational with our clients; explaining what we’re going to do to try and get them ranking on Google.
SEO is a scam
Legitimate SEO companies such as ourselves are often coming up against resistance with potential clients because they see the whole SEO business as a scam. Sadly, there are a lot of unethical, black-hat, SEO companies out there that do scam their customers. It is because of these companies that the name of SEO has become tainted. SEO does work if given the time, and if it is done correctly.
AdWords is a much more successful method
We’ve got nothing against AdWords and it is a viable method of traffic driving for some businesses. We’ve even got some clients on board that have huge AdWords budgets, but they also pay us for their SEO. AdWords is a much more expensive avenue to go down and isn’t guaranteed in the long-term.
It’s all about back linking
Sure, back linking to reputable sites will strengthen your website but it isn’t the be all and end all of SEO. Internal linking, onsite optimisation, blog posts and social media are all part and parcel of the whole SEO package.
